This is the fourth year that La Cañada Unified School District, Panorama's first client, is doing 360 surveys to collect feedback from students, families, and staff. Outlook Newspaper, serving the communities La Cañada and Flintridge, recently published an article featuring this year's survey results and Superintendent Wendy Sinnette's reflections on how survey results have shaped district planning and goal-setting at LCUSD.

As Mirjam Swanson of Outlook reports in "LCUSD Takes Lead in Self-Evaluation Through Surveys," Wendy Sinnette and Panorama's co-founders Aaron Feuer and Xan Tanner go way back. In fact, Wendy recalls some of their first phone calls, when Aaron and Xan were starting Panorama as college students. At the time, Wendy was new at LCUSD and looking for ways "to measure and make tangible education-related data beyond test scores."

Since then, Panorama has grown in terms of the breadth and depth of our offerings, and surveys have become a regular opportunity for LCUSD students, teachers and staff, and families to share their perspectives and feedback with the district.

In addition to an interview with Wendy, Mirjam Swanson spoke with a student at LCHS and a Governing Board member about surveys and survey results at LCUSD. Just as students, families, and staff now anticipate surveys, the Governing Board member noted that survey results are a regular, integrated part of district goal-setting and planning.

"It’s not something we put on a shelf. We definitely, actively, look at this information when considering how we can make the necessary adjustments to move forward."

Aaron Feuer spoke to Outlook about Panorama's work with LCUSD over the years, and how districts throughout California and across the country are joining LCUSD in integrating survey data into their school communities and school leadership cultures.

"As this has blossomed across the country, a lot [of districts survey] parents and students or staff, but there are very few that say, ‘Every single person who touches our school should be heard from.’ And that’s important."

We congratulate LCUSD on another productive year of 360 surveys and using results to set goals and measure progress across the district. We look forward to continuing to collaborate with our very first client!
