Transforming Education (TransformEd) is a leading national organization that works with schools and systems to develop and assess students’ Mindsets, Essential Skills, and Habits (MESH). In order to help equip students with these social-emotional competencies (that research shows matters to success in college, career, and life), TransformEd created a set of toolkits for introducing MESH topics in schools. Panorama is proud announce that school leaders and teachers can now access TransformEd’s MESH toolkits on Playbook, Panorama’s professional learning community.
Panorama’s Playbook offers classroom strategies that have worked well for teachers, as well as resources from trusted organizations, such as Second Step, Teaching Tolerance, and Character Lab. The activities and resources on Playbook are designed to be easy and effective to use and implement in classrooms and schools. In addition, Playbook provides summaries and links to key research articles on critical aspects of social-emotional learning and school climate.
Using Toolkits to Introduce Mindsets, Essential Skills, and Habits in Your School
The TransformEd toolkits provide multi-media resources for teachers, principals, counselors, and other school staff to introduce MESH topics in their schools. The toolkits include explanatory videos, PowerPoint presentations, research-backed classroom activities and other PD materials. These well-designed tools are meant to support educators in working with their teams on shared definitions and vocabulary and to directly support students’ MESH development.
Panorama and TransformEd are partnering to present five toolkits in Playbook:
- Self-Efficacy
- Growth Mindset
- Self-Management
- Mindfulness
- Social Awareness
The Growth Mindset Toolkit, for example, includes resources and practical strategies for teachers seeking to help develop students’ growth mindset, such as guidance on how to praise effort and an animated video for adults on the research around the impact of praise. The printable resources in the toolkits can be edited and customized to fit educators’ specific contexts.
As schools and districts across the country develop their approaches to supporting students in growing their social-emotional skills, we’re thrilled to help connect educators to TransformEd’s MESH toolkits.
